MOLESEY REGATTA 2026 EXPLORE CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
As part of Molesey Junior Regatta (MJR) on Sunday 19th July , adult Explore 4x+ races will be integrated into the overall regatta with a distance of 500m, from a free start, using the same finish line as the non-Explore races.
The MJR Explore event counts as a qualifying event for the Thames Valley Explore League (TVEL) Shield, providing extra incentive for clubs with Explore crews to enter.
MJR will offer two categories for Explore: “Novice” and “Experienced”. “Novice” is defined as scullers who learned to row after January 2025. Novice crews are required to have an experienced cox as deemed suitable by the competing club, to prevent safety incidents and disruption of the overall Regatta schedule. By submitting a Novice crew entry, the administrator is explicitly confirming that a) all members of the crew conform to the date criterion and b) the cox is sufficiently experienced.
Races are expected to take place between approximately 11.00 – 15.00
Any gender ratio is permitted in each crew. Wherever crews have more than 2 male rowers, a handicap of 4 seconds per extra male will be applied. This handicap will be applied by the umpire at the race start.
Explore boats and blades will be provided by MAR for competitors. Coxes are required to bring their own life jackets.
Entries can only be made only through BROE. All scullers and coxes will need a British Rowing Day Ticket, or a Race licence. Substitutions must be declared at least an hour before a crew’s first race; failure to do so disqualifies the crew; Rules 8-4 & 8-5 .
Crews will be subject to British Rowing Rules of Racing, and MJR rules, at all times. In particular, all coxes are required to weigh in before their first race, and receive a coloured wristband; this will need to be shown to Control Commission or the crew will not be allowed to boat. It is possible that deadweight may have to be carried – it is the responsibility of the crew, not the Regatta, to provide this – Rule 7-2-7 f.
Entry fee £88.
